Walgreens and Target Deals

I need to apologize for not posting for quite some time. Summer flies by when your having fun.

Walgreens has been running a 15% off coupon on Friday's. Check their web site for this great coupon. You must check out at the photo counter or cosmetics counter for this to work. Also, you get 20% off of Walgreens brand items. Remember you can have 1 Walgreens coupon and 1 MFG coupon per item.

I was at Walgreens the other night and they are giving $10 in Register Rewards for $20 in Dr. Scholls purchases in a past Sunday's paper there were $5 off coupons for 2 product purchases. Which would be around $5 for 2 gel inserts. Essentially it is like paying $2.50 a pair!

Walgreens (Better Deals)

This morning I went to Walgreens with my $5 off $25 coupon and $1.00 Dove Coupon and $1.00 Dr. Pepper Coupon in hand.
If you want the best and most frugal way to earn the RR for dove do the following
Buy -6 body mist they are $2.99 go to the perfume counter and ask for 6 $1.50 coupon from Walgreens. They are just sitting on the counter at the Mall Avenue Walgreens so you don't even have to ask! This will make them $1.49 each which you wil spend $8.94 on all 6 and get $10 in RR so essentially they are FREE! They make great gift items. OK, so you have $8.94-$1.00 Sunday paper coupon =$7.94 already and need to spend $25. I suggest purchasing the 4-12 packs for $14- coupon (I found this inside one of the boxes) $13 so your up to $20.94. I would check the Register Rewards (RR's) for other items they are listed below the items in Red, be careful and read the fine print they try to trick you with fine print. The Oreo cookies have a RR and I think are $2.50 each-I'm not sure how many you would need to purchase for the RR but if you bought 2 for $5, then you would have spent $25-$5 coupon =$20 and have over $10 in RR! So it is like spending $10 for all the items listed above.

Also, If you want to purchase 6 dove soap items that would work too. I think it specifies the 2 pack or larger. The 2 packs are on sale for $2.24. It would be great if it worked on the single $.99 bar because you could spend $6 and get $10 in RR!

If you would rather spend money on last chance deals, I noticed several new orange stickers around the store.

Yard Sale Ideas

I have been thinking about having a yard sale to clear out room in my closet. I have weighed the pro's and con's of doing this. The benefits of donation outweigh the pro's of actually having a yard sale. If you opt to have a yard sale keep the following things in mind.
1.) Most people are paid on the 1st or 15th of the month or every two weeks.
2.) Packaged deals catch someones eye. Package items neatly to make a deal of several items.
3.) Use bright colored signs like hot pink with black writing.
4.) When someone asks how much? Notice the closeness of the item to the person. If it is close they really already want to purchase it so start with a higher price and lower to make the person think they have a real deal.
5.) Offer a few items for men. This draws both men and women.
6.) Plan ahead and use the color dot system of pricing. If your like me you do not have hours and hours to plan for a yard sale. Place colored dots with prices listed on a large piece of poster board. Then you just have to put a dot on the items or have a price for each table. A $1 table, $3 table and so on.
7.) Plan ahead and advertise in the newspaper.
8.) Place your signs at major intersections in town directing yard sale junkies to your home.
9.) The going time for yardsales is no longer 7am opt for 8am instead.
10.) Put out a box of freebies to lure people to your sale.

Donating items
If you opt to donate items to a charity a tax incentive is in store for you. New tax laws state the items need to be in good condition. I advise people to take a few pictures just to be on the safe side.

NWA Deals - Helping Your Money Do More

Laundry Detergent

Thank you Tracy for the recipe!
I use this and so does my mom and best friend. We love it!
This is a modification of the recipe that I got from Queen of Clean's website (which is the same recipe of Mrs. Duggar of the 18+ kids fame). If you google homemade laundry detergent, you'll get TONS of recipes.
water
1/3 Bar Fels Naptha Soap, Grated
1/2 Cup Washing Soda
1/2 Cup Borax
2 Gallon Bucket
15-20 drops Sweet Orange Essential Oil
1. Mix Fels Naptha soap in a saucepan with 4 cups hot water, and heat on med. low until dissolved.
2. Stir in Washing Soda and Borax. Stir until thickened, and remove from heat.
3. Add 6 cups Hot Water to 2 Gallon Bucket. Add soap mixture, and mix well.
4. Fill bucket with hot water, and mix well. Add the essential oil drops.
5. Set aside for 24 hours, or until mixture thickens.

Use 1/2 cup of mixture per load.It takes me less than 30 minutes to make up a batch and I love love love it. I think it cleans just as well as Tide and better than any other store bought brand. Less plastic and chemicals in the environment and on my families clothes. And I seriously doubt it costs more than a penny per load, compared with how expensive and artificial Tide is. Seriously, even if we had lots of $$, I would still make it myself. It's too easy and beneficial to not do it, in my opinion. :)

REMEMBER: --Baking Soda and Washing Soda are NOT the same thing. You can use Baking Soda, but you will not get near the same results.-- You can get the ingredients at your grocery store(IGA). I did end up buying the Fels-Naptha Soap at ACE Hardware stores. I found Borax at IGA and Target. Organic essential oils can be found in various price ranges from $3.50-$10.00 at Ozark Naural Foods.

I also wanted to share some of my shopping secrets. I purchase items on sale in addition to purchasing items from salvage dealers. My parents and I were in the salvage business for over 5 years! The items usually have minor damage and the savings for the consumer is substantial. When I was a teenager my parents paid $.25 for my hairspray! I do have a point. OOps in Tonitown is one of the best salvage places I have found. They are reasonable and sometimes you can find great deals. Also, A to Z in Rudy on 540 toward Alma also has great finds. I know the White family makes it a family business and are really great people.

Just the other day I was at OOps and found a dirt devil kone vac for $27. They were all maroon in color but if you don't mind a redish color it's a great deal. These retail for $49 at Target.

The Kashi cereal was under $2 and still in date. They had cases of this cereal.

They purchase candels from Hannah's so if you need a few candles to give as gifts at bargain prices your in luck.

I also have purchased organic crackers for $1 and they were $3 at Harps.
